Connect Ray5 miniS to LightBurn via Wi-Fi

The LONGER Ray5 miniS laser engraver supports Wi-Fi connection with LightBurn, allowing users to control the machine wirelessly without using a USB cable. Ray5 miniS provides two Wi-Fi connection modes:

• AP Mode: The computer connects directly to the laser engraver’s Wi-Fi network. The computer will not have access to other networks during this connection.
• STA Mode: The laser engraver connects to an existing Wi-Fi network, allowing the computer to stay connected to the same network.

Method 1: Connect Ray5 miniS to LightBurn via Wi-Fi in AP Mode

AP Mode creates a direct wireless connection between your computer and the Ray5 miniS.

Step 1: Enable AP Mode

1. Open LightBurn.
2. Connect your computer to the Ray5 miniS.
3. Open the Console window.
4. Click AP to switch the machine to AP mode.

Step 2: Connect to Ray5 miniS Wi-Fi

On your computer:

1. Open the Wi-Fi settings.
2. Select the network starting with: LongerLaser_XXXX
3. Enter the password: 12345678

 LongerLaser_XXXX and enter the password 12345678.In the Laser window, click Devices, select Ray5 miniS, then click Edit > GRBL > Next > Ethernet/TCP > Next, then input 192.168.0.1 > Next > Next > Next > Finish > OK. Click Device Settings , enter 8847 in the Network Port field, and click OK

Step 3: Add Ray5 miniS in LightBurn

In LightBurn:

1. Open the Laser window.
2. Click Devices.
3. Select Ray5 miniS.
4. Click: Edit → GRBL → Next → Ethernet/TCP → Next
5. Enter: 192.168.0.1
6. Continue clicking Next until setup is complete.
7. Click Finish → OK.

Step 4: Set the Network Port

Open Device Settings. Enter: Network Port: 8847. Click OK to save the settings. The Ray5 miniS is now connected to LightBurn through AP Mode.

Method 2: Connect Ray5 miniS to LightBurn via Wi-Fi in STA Mode

STA Mode allows the Ray5 miniS and your computer to connect through the same local network.

Step 1: Configure Wi-Fi Information

1. Open LightBurn.
2. Connect the computer to the Ray5 miniS.
3. Open the Console window.
4. Right-click STA to open Wi-Fi settings.

Enter your Wi-Fi information:

• Replace Your_SSID with your Wi-Fi name.
• Replace Your_PassWord with your Wi-Fi password.

Use the following commands:

• $sta/ssid
• $sta/password

Click OK to save the settings.

Step 2: Enable STA Mode

In the Console window:

1. Left-click STA to switch to STA mode.
2. Wait for the connection to complete.

When connected successfully, the console will display:

• status = connected

It will also show the IP address assigned to the Ray5 miniS.

Note: Your computer and Ray5 miniS must be connected to the same local area network (LAN).

Step 3: Add Ray5 miniS in LightBurn

In LightBurn:

1. Open the Laser window.
2. Click Devices.
3. Select Ray5 miniS.
4. Click: Edit → GRBL → Next → Ethernet/TCP → Next
5. Enter the IP address shown after the STA connection.
6. Continue through the setup process: Next → Next → Next → Finish → OK

Step 4: Set the Network Port

Open Device Settings. Enter: Network Port: 8847. Click OK to save. The Ray5 miniS is now ready to use with LightBurn through STA Mode.
