The linear encoder strip is essential for accurate printhead positioning on the Longer ePrint UV printer. If you experience print misalignment or positioning errors, the linear encoder strip may need to be replaced.
This guide provides the official replacement steps. Before you begin, power off the printer, disconnect the power adapter, and work in a clean, stable environment. Handle the linear encoder strip carefully to avoid damage during installation.
1. Remove ePrint cover
Turn off the machine's power switch and unplug the power adapter. Ensure the device is completely powered off. Place the device on a stable work surface. Use a 1.5mm Allen key to remove the 12 screws securing the underside cover of the ePrint machine and remove the cover.

2. Remove the printhead cover
Move the printhead to the middle position and use a 1.5mm Allen key to loosen the two screws on each side of the printhead (note that you only need to loosen the screws, you do not need to remove them). After loosening, simply remove the printhead cover.

3. Remove the camera module
Use a 1.5mm Allen key to remove the 10 screws securing the camera module on top of the ePrint machine and then remove the camera module.
Note: If the camera module is removed, vision calibration must be performed after installation. Otherwise, positioning misalignment or inaccurate printing may occur.

4. Remove the old linear encoder strip and install the new one
Using a 1.5mm Allen key, loosen the clamping plates on both sides of the linear encoder strip and remove the old linear encoder strip .

the new old linear encoder strip through the middle of the press, then through the middle of the linear encoder plate and old linear encoder strip behind the printhead , and then through the press from the other side. Finally, use a 1.5mm Allen key to tighten the press again.

Note: The old linear encoder strip must be placed straight and parallel, and must pass between the encoder and the positioning plate. Do not rub the old linear encoder strip forcefully when placing it, as this may damage it.
5. Reinstall
Reinstall the printhead cover, camera module, and ePrint machine cover.
6. Post-installation checks
After reassembly, connect the power and start the device. Check if the printhead moves smoothly and whether there is any abnormal friction or jamming. Confirm that the old linear encoder strip remains straight throughout its travel without significant wobble. Then perform visual calibration. After calibration, it is recommended to print a test pattern to confirm that the printing position, accuracy, and movement are all normal.
Final Notes
After replacing the linear encoder strip, ensure it is properly seated and aligned without any tension or contact with surrounding parts. Even slight misalignment may affect printing accuracy.
