ePrint Maintenance Guide: Printhead Replacement

UV printheads are consumables, and their condition is closely related to the printing effect. If the printhead becomes clogged and cannot be cleared, or if the printhead is not in good condition, it is recommended to replace the printhead for better printing results.

1. Remove ePrint the acrylic front cover

Move the printhead to the center position, reach behind the acrylic cover, and loosen the four thumbscrews on each side (8 screws in total).

Important Notes: Only loosen the screws; do not fully remove them. After loosening all screws, place the acrylic cover on top of the machine.Do not place the cover elsewhere, as this may loosen or damage the LED light strip.

2. Remove the air filter

Press the spring clips on both sides of the air filter to remove it downwards.

3. Remove the printhead cover

Move the printhead to the center position and use an Allen wrench to loosen the two screws on each side of the printhead  (do not remove the screws completely). After loosening, simply remove the printhead cover.

4. Remove the old printhead

Loosen the two screws at the front of the printhead and remove the print assembly (blue area in the picture).

5. Install the new printhead

Unscrew the connector between the ink cartridge and the ink tube, and connect the corresponding ink tube to the new printhead.

Important Notes: The ink cartridges of the new printhead must be positioned correctly to match the ink tubes; otherwise, it will cause color deviation in the print.

After connecting all the ink cartridges and tubes to the new printhead, reinstall the printhead assembly onto the printhead and tighten the two screws at the front of the printhead.

Important Notes: The bottom of the printhead assembly should be flush with the printhead mounting plate.

6. Replacing the Ribbon Cable

It is strongly recommended to take photos of the internal wiring before disassembly for reference. Disconnect the left and right ribbon cables of the old printhead and reinstall the left and right ribbon cables of the new printhead along the same route.

Important notes: Do not reverse the left and right ribbon cable positions, as this can easily damage the printhead or the motherboard. Insert the ribbon cable straight in; inserting it at an angle can cause the metal contacts to bend. Align the silver metal contacts of the ribbon cable with the silver connectors on the adapter board.

7. Reassemble the Machine

Reinstall the following components in order: Printhead cover→Air filter→Acrylic front cover. Finally ensure all screws and clips are securely fastened before restarting the machine.
