Longer Laser B1 Wireless Connectivity

The LONGER B1 laser engraver supports wireless control, allowing users to operate the machine without relying on a constant USB connection. By connecting the B1 to WiFi, you can transfer engraving files, monitor machine status, and control engraving tasks through a computer or mobile device.

This guide explains how to configure WiFi on the LONGER B1, install the required MKS Laser Tool, connect through the MKSLaser application, and optimize your network settings for a stable wireless experience.

With the correct setup, the B1 provides a more flexible workflow, making it easier to manage engraving projects in different workshop environments.

1. Overview of Wireless Capabilities

The Longer B1 mainboard integrates modern wireless functionality, enabling:

• WiFi connectivity for remote control
• microSD card reading and wireless file transfer
• Optional touchscreen interface (purchased separately)
• Full control via MKSLaser application

Once connected to a network, the machine can be operated without a physical USB connection, significantly improving workflow flexibility.

2. What You Need Before Setup

Before configuring WiFi, ensure you have:

• A stable WiFi router (2.4GHz recommended)
• A Windows PC or laptop
• USB cable for initial configuration
• microSD card (usually included with the machine)
• MKSLaser software and MKS Laser Tool

3. Installing the Correct Configuration Tool

To configure WiFi, you must use the MKS Laser Tool software.

In many cases, the factory-provided version (often V1.1.2) may not work properly with newer routers. Therefore, it is recommended to install the latest version:

4. WiFi Configuration Process

After installation:

Step 1: Run as Administrator

Launch the software with administrator privileges to avoid permission issues.

Step 2: Open WiFi Configuration Tool

Select:

• “WiFi Configuration Tool”

Step 3: Select COM Port

Choose the correct COM port corresponding to the connected Longer B1 device.

Step 4: Enter Network Credentials

Input:

• WiFi SSID (network name)
• WiFi password

Step 5: Connect and Retrieve IP

Wait for the connection process to complete successfully.
Once finished, click “Get IP” and record the assigned IP address.

5. Important Network Consideration (IP Stability)

A key limitation is that the IP address of the Longer B1 may change periodically.

To avoid repeated configuration:

• ✔ Set up DHCP IP Reservation on your router
  
• ✔ Bind the MAC address of the B1 device to a fixed IP

This ensures the machine always connects using the same address and eliminates repeated setup steps.

6. Accessing the Machine via WiFi

After successful configuration:

From Laptop:

• Open a web browser
• Enter the machine IP address
• Access the control interface directly

From Smartphone:

• Install the MKSLaser App (Android/iOS)
• Ensure both phone and machine are on the same WiFi network
• Enter the IP address inside the app

7. MKSLaser Application Features

The MKSLaser application transforms your smartphone into a full control terminal for the machine.

Home Interface

Displays:

• X/Y axis position
• Laser power intensity (S value)
• Real-time machine status

At the bottom, four main modules are available:

7.1 Creation Mode

This is the main design and engraving workflow module. Functions include:

• Import images or take photos
• Adjust brightness, contrast, and filters
• Configure engraving parameters:
  • Size
  • Speed
  • Power
  • M3 / M4 mode
• Slice and upload files directly to the machine via WiFi

After upload, the engraving process can be monitored in real time, including pause, stop, and parameter adjustments.

7.2 Control Mode

Provides manual machine control:

• Move laser head in X/Y directions
• Set movement speed
• Home positioning
• Define custom origin point
